there are three plans at my firm, single, couple, or family w kids. doesnt matter how many kids. the family is like 16k a year or something and I pay 20 something percent of that.

I'm not sure I understand your comment. Are you on family plan and the firm covers the other 80%? Or is the lawyer on the hook for the full 16k?
