Look at his stats, then. Considering he has played fewer minutes in recent years, his stats (per minute played) haven't really dipped from his peak back in 2005-2007. He's almost exactly the same player he was back then, he just gets less media attention because his supporting cast went from being good to SPS.

"No longer has the quickness to penetrate much" = you haven't watched Steve Nash play much.
The dude has never been quick, and he still penetrates as well at 38 as he did at 32 because he's always been shifty as fuck and has ridiculous handles. But in no universe has he ever been "quick" by NBA standards.
He's in a small class of three point guards (Paul, Nash, Rondo) who can basically get to any point on the court any time they want.
