Chael has failed to evolve as a fighter and that cost him. Probably his arrogance that his wrestling (which is top notch) would carry him in any situation.
He made some mistakes last night that were just confounding. First round, he didn't try to pass Silva as aggressively as he should have. There were moments when Silva's guard was pretty loose, Chael should have been advancing position quickly.
Then when he did have Silva mounted, it did not look like Silva was holding on THAT tightly. Chael should have done all he could to posture up and inflict damage.
Chael was obviously worried about getting submitted/ reversed, which shows you just how little faith he has in his BJJ game.
