Cravath has the sweatshop rep. M&A always ends up being inconsistent.
The major Chapter 11 group people I know seem to work more than anyone else. Deadlines aren't as crazy but the sheer volume of shit to do is fucking insane. Year after year, a lot of the top ten hourly billable partners in NYC are Chp. 11 sharks at Milbank.

IME judges let everything get pushed around and there are usually so many parties involved that nothing comes in on time. I'm not saying you don't need to file shit when you need to file it, but it seems more like a steady avalanche of shit in and out instead of everyone sitting around at 4:00am trying to get shit ready for a closing.

I imagine that if you actually know what you're doing with BK, you'll be pretty valuable to shit firms and regional midlaw. It's specialization that carries over and some of those dudes develop good practices doing turnaround stuff and advising companies, not just battling through BKs.

man i've given up on trying to figure out which firms have the best hours. seems to totally depend on the partner you're working for. seems like every firm, sweatshops included, has junior associates billing anywhere from below 1800 to 2400+
