could there be anything less straightforward than lsat prep? you can't even study for an entire section of the test.

youre going to want to brush up on fundamentals of algebra/geometry/combinatorics if youre a poli sci-->jd shithead who hasnt done math since high school but after that its pretty much just not sucking at mathematical intuition and not being a slow as shit drooling tls retard at simple things like calculation & numerical pattern recognition.

one weird trick

but yeah maybe that should be emphasized more than i realized since its obvious to me as a former child MATHLETE where combinatorics always seemed to be the go to for lazy boomers trying to write "clever" but not too technical math problems

yep. it's also the area of math where....theres the greatest disparity between the "hard way" to do it and the "easy way". like...combinatorics is a pain in the ass if you think in terms of binomial notation but lots of striver types do it that way and WILL regurgitate it on these standardized tests.

its all about realizing the implicit constraints so you can set it up and avoid bullshit. the box poasted a problem about marbles where the red ones couldn't be next to each other a while ago and the problem would be horrendous if you actually didn't realize the trick (and in this case basically impossible under test conditions).

I didn't learn it sufficiently. I googled around and found a website where a guy had uploaded 6 or 7 pages of formulas, geometrical properties, number properties, probability, and other HS math stuff that appears on the test. Spent 3 or 4 days reading that stuff over and doing a few practice tests. Was good enough for ~80th percentile on the Q, but not enough to feel comfortable with everything and to learn how to attack the questions efficiently.

yeah with the time pressure the hard questions are going to be problematic and NOT OK if youre trying to remember some clue about how to solve it from some cliff notes you just tried to memorize the day before

to get the azn grinder level gmat ?s you really want to be going full tilt at the problem itself with no hesitation about what youre supposed to be doing

The test was definitely PROBLEMATIC. I told the proctor that future versions should come with a trigger warning prior to the first quant question.

know all your basic math facts (see if you can find an online ...sparknotes type thing). and practice lots of combinatorics problems. if you are automatic on this shit, you'll go fast. speed it the main issue.

as for the pattern recognition, that is innate/comes from experience. you wont develop it anymore than it is now without hours of practice.

Manhattan GMAT quant is the best.

That being said, after working through the workbooks for three weeks I only increased my Q score by 1.

However, I still copped that 760.
