My current favorite is when multiple people comment on lists in emails, then some asshole forwards/switches to plain text losing all formatting, and somebody has to try and track through all of the comments that are now conflicting, run on sentences.

sometimes you have to...for instance, moving an entire section or sentence to another part of the document....this way they know that it didn't substantively change.

But for real, is there an option that allows you to show what change you made to your first draft, and what changes of the other sides that you didn't accept, all in one redline? That would actually be really useful, and I don't think we have it....right now it really takes two redlines, one against your previous draft, and another against the other side's comments.

I might....like a way to put in 3 docs into DeltaView, the first the initial draft, second the other sides comments, and third your revisions based on the other sides comments....that would actually be very useful for clients.

I agree in theory but in practice I think it would be an enormous headache. You know that some boomer partner would finally get around to reading the final redline and decide that he really likes the comma placement shown in lavender from six versions prior.

Most inhouse departments dont have deltaview and just do track changes. Good idea BIGLAW to use something that your clients dont even fucking have. Just lol

well, Deltaview converts to track changes automatically...so if I have some concern that my client is going to start marking something up, I send it like that.

I work in-house now and I always have firms sending me fucking deltaview PDFs. I cannot express how annoyed everyone in my group gets by this. We have to request a word doc w/ track changes every time. It's extremely annoying.

why the FUCK would you need a word doc with track changes? you make the changes to the clean copy.

if i want to make changes to a clean copy ill accept all changes and then track additional changes. some provisions its better to leave the legacy changes in the doc as its clearer whats been going on that way and you can save the comment history. it depends. and either way i need a word doc.
