I just got an unconventional job offer...tell me if I should take it or not

Date: June 27th, 2015 9:16 AM Author: Khaki demanding turdskin crackhouse 7th year here looking to lateral. Traditional in-house offers are coming in at ~135k (I can't seem to cop dat 175K+ in-house gig for some reason).
Through connections I was offered an in-house gig at a small wealth management firm. They laid it all out for me: they want an attorney just for show--to make them seem legit. Legal work would be 3 hours or so a day, mostly talking with clients and giving them boilerplate advice on wills/estate planning and stuff. The work schedule is what's making me consider this: 36 days off per year (vacation and sick combined), 8 hour work day (flex), all major holidays off, no weekends, no Fridays in the summer, and I was told that they wouldn't care if I had a side gig and did that side gig in my office! (presumably so I wouldn't get bored. But obviously I cant see my own clients there). Here's the catch--the pay sucks! 90K/year + 401k match and health bennies.
Am I too young for this? This seems like something for someone semi-retired or moms.

Did they say it was for show or was it for some other reason? You could probably cop a better in-house position, unless you are in some obscure legal field. |
