My Dad works for the railroad and gets pretty good union benefits. If you're intelligent and competent at your job it's very easy to move up. My Dad is already looking at management positions and might even get some weird gig for a while where he gets to make his own hours and everything.
Not sure how it is in other parts of the country, but I'm sure it's similar enough everywhere. If it's anything like my dad's job I'd cop it because it seems pretty awesome.
Then again, owning your own business in any capacity is 180. |

He works for my state's transit system but I think it's run by a French company called SNCF. I think the american subsidiary is called Keolis.
Dude does electrical work. Before that he ran his own electrical contracting business, then worked in a shingle factory for a little bit, then copped this job. |
