Date: May 26th, 2016 2:58 PM Author: mind-boggling institution I got stopped for a broken tail light and cop said if I took care of it in 24 hours there'd be no penalty. So I got it repaired and took pics and saved receipt. Prosecutor said I had to take it to police precinct for inspection, which cop didn't mention and I didn't. He's offered a plea deal of jaywalking and a $50 fine (instead of $150 for broken tail light). Should I accept? If the cop shows up, have the prosecutor show him your proof.
Most likely he won't even show up and it will be dismissed.
Of course, there's always a risk the cop will recant and refuse to honor his word, but I think it's unlikely. |
