Yeah, there's no comparison. La sucks, but NYC is like something out if a dystopian movie.

Baffling is a strong take. LA has a lot of advantages but some people may prefer NYC because the food is better, public transportation is much more functional, and there are more high paying jobs.

I'm literally trying right now to decide which to move to long-term. It seems to me that the big advantages NYC has are more ppl (good for singlemos) and 180 public transit

it's almost like they're extremely different places

one is traffic oriented but the traffic is so shitty you often can't go very far

the other has excellent public transportation

one is highly segregated so the nice parts are very nice indeed

the other is, well, still pretty segregated, but somehow can't seem to figure out how to take out the trash despite having enough money in property tax (AND city tax!) to fund a an actual small army

one has great weather, another has standard seasons

blah blah blah

the only thing they have in common is both are fucking absurdly expensive places to live. obviously MFH apartments are more expensive, but NYC suburbs are actually cheaper than their la equivalent for people who want that sort of thing.

personally I would never want to live in either
