Isn't this the lesson of Matsushita? The CivPro/Antitrust case.

How could they cartelize? Stupid gooks!

Decades later: all TVs are made by Japanese or Koreans.

In other words, let's assume they know what they're doing.

IIRC, American TV manufacturers accused the major Japanese TV manufacturers of a vast conspiracy to overprice in Japan so that they could underprice in the States, thereby undercutting all American co's. Justice Powell said there's no fucking way all Japanese co's could agree to keep prices low for decades, since executives can't literally meet in person to fix prices and the temptation the break rank is so high. Also, there has to be a realistic probability of recouping losses. By the time the case came down, the Japanese were in the red for decades, and it seemed they were never going to become profitable in the States.

Now, I'm pretty sure they're in the green and have a stranglehold on the American market for TVs.

it's like $60 so it's not worth the hassle of doing all that crap. you still would have to buy a controller that would probably cost 1/3 of that even if you did use an emulator.

a computer nerd friend in college did have literally every game ever (there are a shitload of obscure nes games out there) and it was 180 as fuck though.

in the NESticle era there were noticeable issues with certain classic games re: timing, animations, sound.

the 30 games on the NES classic are perfect copies.

more recent generations of emulators have solved most of the outstanding issues, and imo you can have a great NES gaming experience on your computer these days.

your blanket objection, though, has the tone of someone who would consider these vehicles to be good buys http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/features/car-culture/its-a-knock-off-chinas-copycat-cars-at-the-2015-shanghai-motor-show/

I admit I haven't played an NES game since 2006 but even then the emulators had more or less solved all of the issues. I remember very few instances at that point were the sound was fucked up.

Plus why do I want another fucking device in my living room?

I don't own a car but those look pretty cool bro

I remember in law school spending a few hours doing a deep dive into the legality of using emulators. General argument was that it was legal to download a ROM as long as you already owned the cartridge in order to have a "backup".

I should have tried to write a law review article about it. Probably my only chance to contribute anything of value to the legal profession...
