Been kinda chubby my whole life. 6'1" 200lbs day after Thanksgiving. Started following the following diet (which isn't really a diet) and I'm down to 185 as of today. Also workout 3-4 times a week, but I've been doing that for years.

Breakfast:

4 strips of bacon and fried egg or a protein shake.

Black coffee or 2

Lunch/snack:

Salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, egg, green/orange peppers) and two pieces of fruit.

Several cups of coffee throughout day.

Dinner:

Steak/chicken and either mixed vegs or a salad

Anyone else having trouble losing weight, just eat that.

Bananas are calorically dense, at the end of the day you need to eat less food if you want to lose weight. For most people, starches are far more satiating and are less calorically dense (potatoes are very filling and give a YUGE bang for your buck)

My point was that the ketosis diet requires less than 50g net carbs a day. Over 50g carbs and the body stops using fat/ketones for fuel. Hard to do that with fruit.

nothing in that wikipedia entry disputes that sensible meat consumption can be healthy and beneficial. i would never argue that meat is essential in any way but fucking LOL at claiming that consuming animal flesh is some kind of smoking-level health hazard. you can isolate a compound in most foods and point out that a susceptible person can fuck themselves with it in proper quantity over time. there are people who think daily consumption of uncooked cruciferous vegetables is a health risk due to their effect on thyroid function. so under the right circumstances, too much raw broccoli and kale will fuck you up. doesn't mean you shouldn't eat those things in a sensible way. this sort of ridiculous overreaction to the presence of any proposed health risk is the reason people LOL at vegans rather than embrace the very solid aspects of the philosophy and health benefits.
