Right before his death he was working on a profile of CIA director John Brennan when he started telling people that his car was malfunctioning and he was getting creeped out.
Rumors were spread that he was on drugs (he was a former addict), but only "small" amount of amphetamines and marijuana were found in his autopsy report, no alcohol or cocaine.
Today we learn that the CIA has the capability of taking over cars and killing people:
