It defies all logic. You see your interest rates increase exponentially because you got a (((sub prime mortgage))), and you calculate that you won't be able to make payments in 6-8 months from now, and why don't you just SELL? Sure you might end up doing a short sell, but it's still better than being forclosed on, let alone, getting evicted by the sheriff because you ARE forclosed

They could afford the houses. Many lost jobs or had some reduction in income that precipitated the foreclosure

If your house is foreclosed on and the bank sells it for more than your debt, do you get to keep the money?

And if it's nonrecourse (as many mortgages are), then all the bank can take is the house, not your money.

crrrrrr. stop paying and squat through the foreclosure process. better than going through the hassel of selling at a loss and getting nothing.

It's worse than getting nothing. Selling at a loss means you're bringing money to closing to ensure that the buyer gets clear title.

Lol.

You guys are clueless.

Check the auctions cities do on foreclosed houses some time. There are houses in the city worth up to a million that were seized for like 20k in unpaid liens and the like. Hasidic jews descend upon them like vultures.
