Until last week, my wife was the state director of a national non profit. While they cited a deficit and a desire to consolidate regions, my wife didn't exactly fit in with the sorority girl atmosphere I discussed in the thread below.

Several months ago, my wife contacted the nonprofit's biggest donor in our state. This guy has put on an annual fundraiser for her employer for years, typically raising between $20,000 and $40,000 per year, aside from last year when the event raised just $2,000. He also donates another $100,000 or so through other events and donations. The reason that the 2016 event raised just $2,000 is because the promotions company he hired ended up walking away with over $30,000. Apparently my wife's boss and the advisory board reacted rudely to the $2,000 donation and this year he decided to hold the fundraiser to benefit a different nonprofit.
The donor is in his 70s. He pulls in tens of millions of dollars per year and is a legitimately caring and kind individual. Having achieved financial success during his working years, he now wants to leave a legacy behind as he approaches retirement and old age. With my wife's layoff, his nonprofit of choice fell out of favor. He mulled his options with my soon to be unemployed wife, eventually asking if she'd be willing to establish and run a nonprofit with his financial backing. This is, of course, my wife's goal in life.
A few days ago the donor called my wife's boss and told her that his relationship with the foundation is over. Being the biggest donor in the state, my wife's boss was both speechless and terrified. Not knowing anything else, she emailed my wife pleading with her to ask him to reconsider.
At this point, my wife's boss knows she stepped in some shit but hopes to be able to manipulate my wife into salvaging the foundation's relationship. On Monday she'll find out just how fucked they really are when my wife explains to her boss that, not only will the largest donor in the state not reconsider, he's going to be financing the establishment of a nonprofit that will be in direct competition with my wife's soon to be former employer. Not only that, but my wife, someone with access to and relationships with all of the old foundation's donors, is going to run it. I doubt that she needs to explain that she'll be targeting the big donors first.

I'm working so I'm just going to keep editing this poast:
