Do they generally stick close to what they have paid others in the same position (I.e., what you see on glassdoor)?

Outside of that, I know people who work in random in house companies like Toyota, Mattel, various pharma companies, etc who have $200k in house jobs. Entertainment studio type jobs and insurance industry jobs pay poorly as an industry so avoid those. |

If you max out your salary demands, you can try for a sign-on bonus (but it's generally not a lot). Passing the salary band would require approvals to bump your title, etc, which is a real pain in the ass to get approvals for.
Also raises vary by company, some ppl get a small 2% bump every year while others get like a 10% bump every other year, etc. If you want to do it right, you need to do the buy-back -- get an offer from a competitor and have your company match. |
