Greeks were exposed to civilizations on the eastern med more early and more often, and those cultures probly got their start by interacting with the Middle East/Egypt.
If Britain were a couple more hundred miles west the celts would've been fucked up come 1500 same as the aztecs or mayans |

Gauls and Germans were farther out in the frontier and isolated from the main water trade routes (the Mediterranean).
