Don't fall for dumb things like 100 percent 401k matching, paid time off, promises of advancement or salary increases. I really experienced this for the first time in one of my first jobs out of college at a tech startup (had just gone through Series B). Within months of starting, I noticed an unusually high turnover in people all over the company, but especially in my department. Trite explanations were usually given, like "just wasn't the right fit for him," etc. Then they'd plug the hole with a fresh body.

I was fired shortly thereafter for similarly vague reasons, no real issues with my performance or anything.
