Most of my fellow bochurim would pick their beards, but my roommate was a much starker yid than that. He would pick his nose and eat it with serious kavanah.
Once, he sat on my bed to play some Adam Carolla podcast for me and started picking his nose. Oddly enough, he didn't eat it, but he just crumbled it on my pillow instead. It was Shabbos and while neither of us were following the rules that weekend, I pointed out that the act of crumbling was likely a violation of the 39 forbidden malakah, since it was not done in the context of eating.

Does booger eating have any roots in Judaism?
I only ask because I distinctly remember on my flight to Israel for my birthright trip in 2005, a Hasid a few rows ahead of me stared right at me while picking his nose and wiping it into his gums. I always wondered if he just needed a snack or felt that the act brought him closer to Hashem.
