REMINDER: One million dollars is a quite insignificant amount of money.

a lot of ways if you reinvest it properly
obvious example #1: $1mm would allow you to leverage into a ~$5mm real estate buy. you could buy an apartment complex in ARE COUNTRY at an 8-10 cap and easily cook six figures passive income
obvious example #2: if you're more risk averse and not wanting to go out and get brasted every weekend, you can put it in something like PRFHX and get 3.6% yield on your million ($36,000 per year) in federal tax-exempt dividends.

Where is this possible in any top-25 metro area or nice suburb of one?
Let's say that costs $50k a year. That means you need 5% returns on your investment if you don't want to spend down your principal, which you can't afford to do in your 30s.
But $50k only buys that lifestyle right now, so you're getting raped by inflation eventually unless you make enough extra return to grow your principal. Sure it's possible, but you're gutted by ONE | WRONG | MOVE.

Sure, if you plan on living in a high COL city for the rest of your life. Otherwise, it's still a lot.
Most of the US is NOT expensive, and overseas is even less expensive outside of places like western Europe.

CR.
worse than having nothing, because having nothing is freedom.
I mean it will be much better eventually, someday, but yeah.

I'll probably never have a million dollars, it seems wrong for me to talk shit about it
if you have a million dollars and find it insignificant, well... 1UjVzBLBRCmojkGzMtvKixkoWtTjXxEyf
