The hallmark of a real relationship is utter originality. Tons of inside jokes, memes, made-up terms, etc are coined, with no reference to original content in the media. If anything that goes on in your LTR or marriage is influenced by the media in ANY way, you need to commit sudoku. Not everyone can afford to be original in every area of life but this is love we're talking about, love gives you brass balls. These people who act like TV couples are either not in love or are legit, diagnosable sociopaths. It's completely fucked if phoneyness invades your intimacy spaces, you're beyond hope.

Like imagine a couple where instead of having their own inside jokes that they crack up at, they re-tell jokes from some Yuppie show like 6 feet under and pretend to laugh at them.

It's a subtle phenomenon I'm getting at, but I've seen it a few times. Like, couples that seem to be scripted or something.

This is the only way prole families bond. Middle class families do this but with classic movies.

I can't recall who, but someone once keenly observed that every American is a bad actor imitating yesterday's bad actors.

I see this. People even develop their personal narratives to mirror movie tropes.

Reality is too unhinged for most ppl to make sense of. 90% of the media they consume is shit movies and tv. Where else would they get their framework from?

People always did this tho right? The source material just changes. At one point it was probably the Iliad, the Bible etc. now it’s Girls and Friends

LJL. Yes, ancient Gilead and his FGWBT wife Shalona just quoted the dead sea scrolls to each other.
