Had an Uber ride with an Iranian-American Trumpmo (180).

We started by talking about moving the capital to Jerusalem. His perspective is that it was a necessary and courageous move, because it makes a two-state compromise or similar possible, as Jerusalem was something the Jews would never cede and now it is definitively off the table.
He used to be a nuclear physicist in Iran - worked at a nuclear power plant, was educated at GWU. I said they probably wished he was back there; he laughed, and said their tech is primitive and they're idiots. I said phew, then described how easy it would be to commit mass terror with e.g., a dirty bomb (easy to make), or a drone with an explosive, or whatever, and decried security theater, again meeting agreement.
Then the conversation turned to the deep state war on Trump and the election. He recounted he was afraid to voice his pro-Trump opinion in his car, because the mandarins around here would wage religious war. For example, at one point someone berated him for two hours about Trump being tHE DEVIL, and then amazingly wanted to CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION when they'd arrive, because "I need more time to change your mind, this is important." -- Guy told him to get out of the car. I told him people are in the grips of a religious panic, but there are more Trumpmos here than he may think -- they just do not loudly identify themselves, for fear of lib swarm behavior.
We talked about the absurdity of the Russia allegations, the tarmac meeting, the phony dossier leading to illegal wire-taps, and the head of the NSA. Then things turned to Hillary and the election, as (since we'd been discussing enriching uranium) he noted Hillary, not Trump, had sold out the nation's uranium.
Together we relived some of the great moments of the election, as one does when dredging up xo threads from last year. But the conversation had a somber undercurrent, as we both agreed that, in this past election, the very survival of the American republic was at stake, and that Trump still faces near impossible odds. As we arrived at the destination, we both simultaneously said, "we are lucky to have that man."
