When I was 21. Some fucker told me: "so many 18-year-olds entering college and going to ivies are doing amazing shit, you missed the boat."
I knew at that point that my youth was over and I had missed the boat. TY ageism.

A month after starting big law. When I realized this there's really nothing great to look forward to except enjoying what you can in life as you slowly age towards death. The hope and excited outlook I had in high school, college, and early law school was quickly erased.

For me, it was going in-house, as strange as that sounds.
In high school, college, law school, even biglaw,I was always working towards something and was sure the next thing would be better. Sure, there were shit days of biglaw, but I always knew it was temporary and I would COP DAT IN HOUSE 9-5.
I'm in-house and objectively speaking my life is the best it's ever been, but I'm done and this is likely my last job (most of the senior people have been here for decades). But it also means that the stale wit of my coworkers and the shit that is still part of my job are temporary things I can work past; this is just my life and, realistically speaking, I'm kind of life-committed to this path or one just like it.
