no, i don't mean walled gardens for elites. i think middle class white americans will mostly be OK. gentrification will continue pushing out minorities in highly productive cities, and lots of the nonwhite population growth is coming from Asians. So i don't agree with the brazilification meme |

I agree middle class white americans will mostly be OK; somewhat agree re: gentrification with some caveats (projects, etc.); and agree that lots of nonwhite population growth is coming from Asians. My initial claim was about white society. America has the white-minority point in view. If your point is America may, for example, become an Asian society, I don't see how it refutes what I said initially. But I may misunderstand. |

I think the state will function and current secular trends will continue, meaning there will be increasing factionalism & separation between the elites & non-elites. I think there won't be much of a cohesive national identity - just a sort of weak affiliation - such that there will be no sense of majoritarian consensus about issues. I don't foresee any major disaster scenarios, just a long sputtering out as people carve for themselves and their kids what they can. |
