less verbose than java. obviously faster than python. Superior package management to anything I've seen (LJL at python). an incredible dev community. Easily learnable by anyone with a background in C-based languages. cross platform (unlike SwifTTT), type-safe, operator over-loading. holy shit I've been using this for 2 weeks and I think I've finally found MY LANGUAGE

It actually doesn't have great community support ATM. We started using it at work and I just happen to like the neat and clean syntax, forward-thinking features like goroutines, and the absence of inheritance makes it easier to maintain. I already prefer it to Python and it's obviously way better than Java.

I prefer it to vanilla ES2015+ when working with a team on a large codebase. Compiler catches small bugs early, and code ends up being more self documenting.

cr and it's one niche player in a niche industry.

if someone is proselytizing about some obscure language and it has few/no large commercial applications, useful open source projects, or a significant business built on it, you can safely ignore them.

99% of these guys are jerking off about obscure features to write their fibonacci programs.

When was the last time you used recursion other than to solve the stupid tower of Hanoi problem in CS101?

C++ has the eternal problem of there will always be people writing shitty semi-C-style

plus, other than boost there isn't much in the way of "standardized" libraries.

I like modern C++ but they really fucked the dog by not getting some kind of library/package management in C++17.
