That's why a city or even a state can't fix homelessness-- even if they did, then new homeless would stream in.
It would be totally worth it for the federal government to build massive complexes where the land is cheap and, essentially, institutionalize the mentally ill, incarcerate the truly criminal, and just give cash and a place to get back on their feet to people who are truly just down on their luck. But between conservative unwillingness to spend money and shitlibs treating the homeless as a class above the law, this isn't anywhere close to happening. So here we sit, surrendering the quality of our cities for no good reason. |
