well a 21 yr old looks no different from a 25 yr old, really. it's not like 11 and 15. if some kid who was 21 said he was 25, no one would bat an eye. and vice versa. you cannot really reliably tell.

I think they're more concerned about people who are both young and who haven't completed 3-4 years of formal study after graduating from high school. It gives them less to go on when they're estimating academic performance and evaluating how someone does in a traditional academic setting. In her case, it looks worse because she didn't spend much time in a classroom setting as a child, and didn't seem to perform very well during the period she was enrolled in college.

HTF did you get your degree at 18? I don't understand the reasoning behind putting a kid on a super-accelerated track. Didn't you want a normal adolescence?

Author: dashing up-to-no-good school cafeteria telephone

well i had a fairly normal adolescence. i was never, ever advanced in grades until i was 17, when i graduated from HS. then i did college in just 3 semesters (but i got a real, 4 yr degree from UW-Madison). that's how i got through fast.

i didnt go to college at 14 or some shit. that would've been awful.

i did it by taking a shitload of college classes in HS. it was all free, so i maxed it out. plus, i was already in a lot of advanced classes. i took calc II when i was 16 for example.

not really. hardly anyone does that. in fact, i think i am probably the first ever and the joint has been around for like 150 yrs. so they dont hand out degreees in 3 semesters usually.

i just really pushed hard in HS and took a load of college classes.

and i got a 177 when i was 18 yrs old, so i must not be too stupid. so it's not like they give degrees to idiots in 5 minutes.

i saw an advantage cuz i can make money sooner and save on tuition. i am much better off financially now cuz i did that.

maybe others have done it, but not often, and prolly not at UW, which isnt known for overachievers. it's the #1 party school after all. not the #1 dweeb school.

long/short equity value. so i would short overvalued stocks and go long on undervalued ones. my strategy incorporates momentum/technical analysis and is, for this reason, almost unique i think, although AQR Capital Management (huge and very successful Greenwich, CT hedge fund) does something sorta similar. the manager, cliff asness, is a multibillionaire now.

It's seemed to me that law schools are more concerned about applicants who haven't had significant experience with higher education. Most of the young students I can think of who've been successful in law school admissions either completed 4 years of college or had some graduate school education.

The girl in question seems to have spent no more than a couple of years in a traditional classroom. I can understand why law schools would be skeptical.

Why would someone want to graduate early with that kind of GPA? If I was an adcomm that would set off a major red flag.

And why apply to so many PT programs? I can understand GULC PT with those numbers, but GW, Loyola, Fordham, etc.? Doesn't really make much sense...

Right. Accelerated degree implies you're really bright, but the 3.26 implies (depending on major) that you're either not that bright or not that hard-working.

Nah. Nuttiness isn't directional. Nutty + nutty is greater than or equal to 2(nutty).

Subject: Hey Don

I'm curious about your ps now. Did you circulate it for comments before you applied? Maybe your ps torpedoed your apps.
