I bought my ex gf a HP 580-023w for our last Christmas (still living together but broken up) sort of as a parting gift so we could keep playing games together after she moved away. It's a decent box, was only $500 and has a gtx 1060 that will run any game decently (but it won't murder the most stressful games at high resolutions). That's probably the best value PC.

If you want some real power you need to build it (unfortunately gpu prices are crypto inflated right now). You can build a beast of a PC for $1500. I have a 3930k/rampage iv extreme/16g ram combo I'd sell for a decent price that would be a good core for a high end but not bleeding edge pc if you want to build.

I didn't look but probably not. If you're going to go beyond the box I suggested, you want to build it yourself so you are picking the case, motherboard, power supply, etc. It's better to spend a bit extra on the base things that will last multiple upgrade cycles, yet that's often where prebuilds skimp the most.

What are your resolution and FPS goals? It is currently cheaper to buy a prebuilt than to build because crypto miners have fucked the GPU market as mentioned above.

Get something with a GTX 1080 (1080ti if you can afford it), 16GB RAM, and at least an Intel i5 processor (i7 if you can afford it).

Cryptofags have fucked things up so completely right now... it is the worst time in history to build a gaming rig

You're best off building a rig with no dedicated graphics card & wait to add one until the video card market returns to normal. Something like the Ryzen 5 2400G has basically the best integrated graphics you can get right now

Or get a card several years old as a placeholder. There are probably some that don't really have mining value based on hash rate per watt

this is stupid. Just go on the mustard race subreddit and offer to buy whatever 2-3 year old card someone has lying around for $100 and use that for a while.

Great time to get a gaming laptop. Get a 1060 graphics card, 16GB Ram and an SSD HD and you’ll be able to run anything out there right now with 60fps (go with 1080p display because 4K laptops are flame and waste of resources). Might even be able to find 1070 graphics card too for $1400-1600.

I’m going to be buying a laptop in the next few months. Leaning toward Eluktronics.

Can’t upgrade graphics card or CPU but can upgrade RAM. upgrading graphics cards is flame these days though given the costs.
