In CA it's lol -- initiation is $250k+ on the Peninsula and they obviously aren't even close to being on the radar for any peers. |

I could definitely see the appeal back in the old days. Large, fun cocktail parties with bland food were the thing. People had a lot of time to get good at golf. Your firm or your company made sure you looked respectable on the course. Other fitness activities (b-ball, soccer, running, weightlifting) weren't as popular and modern home entertainment wasn't available, so guys hung out at the club to fill their time. |

Also, ITE was a big factor... ppl dropped memberships and never came back and younger ppl were too busy being unemployed and drowning in debt to even consider taking up golf.
either way, there still are more golfers now than there were 30 years ago. |
