what's the typical FMV of a used wedding dress relative to the retail price? pennies on the dollar?
is ebay the best / only place to sell it?
any other protips?

There are various websites like preownedweddingdresses.com and oncewed.com and the classified in forums like weddingbee.com.
I also tried eBay and CL but lots of riff raff wanting to come over and try on dress and bargain. I received some interest but the best offer I got was like $1500 (listed it for $2500) and they wanted me to clean it first which costs like $200. I actually only paid about $1800 after all alterations but I then found a charity that helps out military brides and they gave me a receipt for $5000 so I got $2000 off my taxes. The dress retails for $7500.
$1000 no name david’s Bridal dress, maybe the best you can do is like $200. I wouldn’t bother and would just donate it and write in $1000 as the tax write off.

ty.
it's not david's bridal, but by no-name do you mean non-fancyschmancy designer?
since when does the charity write down the value on the receipt? dont they just give you a receipt with the items listed? isnt it up to you to declare to the irs what you deem the value is?
