He wrote Inception from scratch and is a genius as far as filmmaking is concerned. Most directors base their movies off someone else's work (usually books) and then hire script writers to do all the grunt work for them. Nolan actually wrote Inception and it was 180 in original thought.
I like Scorsese, but all of his movies are very similar - he has made some 180 movies though, like the Departed
Spielberg's heydey was in the early 1990s, with movies like Schindler's List. I dunno if I have really liked any of his recent work
