target net worth is a bit deceptive b/c of student loans. target income seems more reasonable at least until you get older and are nearing retirement.
25 - 50K
30 - 80k
35 - 120k
40 - 150k
45 - 180k
50 - net worth, $1 million
65 - net worth, $2 million

40% short term treasuries/cash
30% quantitative index strategy i developed
10% long-short equity fund
10% credit-focused closed end fund
10% in brk.b
note that i haven't really paid much attention to my personal portfolio and my circumstances are idiosyncratic so it's not a great guide to how i feel about markets

a lot of it is from crypto sales i'd made over the past few months.
i have more cash that's not included in that portfolio that's still on gdax for trading.
my strategy is based on trend following and momentum in broad equity indexes.

you should not listen to anything tsinah has to say about crypto or investing.
crypto is far more volatile than anything else you own. the tricky thing is that if you do a lump sum you can fall into some nasty psychological traps because there is a really really good chance the market will rip against you.
i would drop $10k into btc/eth and simply observe your emotional reactions to the fluctuations first.
however, if you're looking for a "good" entry point i think eth at 300 and btc at 4000 is decent but the price may never get there.

Dude how do you think you even have room to talk here?
Ex: literally made millions in crypto in the last year
You: renting some shitbox FL apt printing out fake “emotional support animal” certificates off the internet so you don’t have to give your landlord a $500 deposit

How much do I need to retire if I already own property? Very low COL. Will you tell us when to start hoarding again? your timing last time was pretty fucking sweet.
Also, when do you see 3rd gen tech coming online with actual use cases?

I believe Mark Cuban has said that a Costco membership is one of the best investments a regular person can make.
Do you know of any other pithy lifehacks like that?

depends on your income and goals.
but in priority for retirement saving:
1) hsa is almost always a good deal if you're eligible for one.
2) traditional ira if you expect your marginal income rate in retirement to be lower than your marginal rate today. otherwise roth (backdoor if you're eligible).
(bonus): if your 401(k) allows "after-tax" contributions that are distinct from roth contributions--this is called a "mega" backdoor roth.
3) taxable account. if you buy equity index funds and don't intend to make lots of trades it can be extremely tax efficient.

Which of these has the highest expected value on 1/1/2021? I don't need the money now.
A. Selling my ETH today and paying short term cap gains rates. (It's still up 3 or 4x since my average buy.) Buying VTI with those winnings.
B. Selling my ETH in July after long term cap gains rates applies to all of it. Buying VTI with those winnings.
C. Leaving it all in ETH.
TYIA.

whats the value add of personal wealth management if one is already semi-informed (invests in low cost indexes, maxes out retirement funds etc.)?
I read Investor's Manifesto which you rec'd - seemed like Bernstein was was very big on minimizing fees.

i've taken on completely new clients. it's really case by case.
i don't try to make prospects comfortable. i just explain my structure, fees, process, limitations as thoroughly and honestly as i can.
i wouldn't do it for $100k unless there was a strong possibility of a $1 million+ allocation eventually. however i offer personal advice/analysis quite freely and i often given detailed comments to friends/family that ask for it.
