If you don't waste a lot of time levelling, or go to the wrong place too early, you get fucked up. Storm Dragon is a bastard, Fanatics' Tower will fuck you up, Phoenix Cave MIGHT fuck you up, Chadarnook has 30,000 hp, the list goes on. Yeah if you're 37 and bald and know the game, point taken, but it's not like it's easy to just fly the Falcon directly to Kefka's tower or the Phoenix cave as soon as you get it.
