Monaco's prestige has to take a hit because it's the least competitive race on the F1 calendar and it has been for years. The Indy 500 has great racing every year.
Le Mans has the issue that endurance racing is so niche.
The Indy 500 transcends it's promoter, which is extra prestigious. It's been promoted as a Formula 1 Grand Prix, as well as a USAC, IRL, and now Indy event. Dudes from other racing leagues regularly try their hand at the Indy 500.

Not really, although it seems like NASCAR has frequently gotten the person it needed to win at just the right time.
The way the rules are set up creates bunched racing and makes it more likely/possible to get that special winner.
I also really dislike how in-race deals are worked out between teams to help each other with drafting. Those also help get just the right winner in particular races, imo.

There was some logic to what Tony George was trying to do, he just ran into Roger Penske's massive ego and he went about it terribly.
He was trying to do two main things and he used IMS and the 500 as leverage.
First he wanted a more centralized authority making key decisions from race control to series specs to races run. CART was a mess from a governance standpoint in which the team owners practically had to agree on every decision and they couldn't.
Second he wanted greater opportunities for American drivers. Teams were turning to European drivers who could come over and buy a seat. Top American USAC drivers were finding they couldn't get a ride and started turning to NASCAR where there was greater opportunities. Jeff Gordon was the prime example of a guy who should have been an IndyCar lifer and superstar but he ended up racing taxicabs.
George accomplished his first goal. IndyCar is now put of the hands of team ow ers and much better run today, although tho cost to the sport wasn't worth it.
There was a brief period where there were greater opportunities for American drivers, too. But now we are back at the same spot on that front. Kyle Larson should be pushing Josef Newgarden to be the face of Indy, but he is instead running on NASCAR.

Qualifying this weekend was fantastic.
Bump day drama on Saturday as Hinch and Pippa fail to make the field. Then Ed Carpenter claims the pole on Sunday.
Our gal starting a respectable seventh. The winner has come from the seventh spot five times.
