This was the feeling that generations of blacksmiths had every time they made a horseshoe, that generations of farmers had every time they planted a field, that generations of lumberjacks had when they saw their timber hitting a river and floating to the sawmill.
Today, we sit in florescent offices starring into the glare of our computers for 8 or 10 or 12 hours a day. We don't build anything tangible. We don't accomplish anything meaningful. The closest we get is vacuuming Cheerios from under the seats of a Pacifica. At least you changed something in world, however slight.
