Starting the SKU search for the part as soon as you can is the best course of action.
You might be able to switch dudes if you have not already paid for it and they could have the part in stock. The choke point you are dealing with is the distributor. In the next 5-10 years you will probably be able to get much faster service as one of the companies I have stock in consolidates that market.
