"Eyewitnesses saw Flowers sitting on the hood of his uncle's car the morning of the murders. No gun was ever found, but bullets from the scene were determined to be the same caliber; Flowers' uncle said that gun of that caliber had been stolen from his car. But no direct evidence tied Flowers to the gun or the gun to the crime, since the gun was never found[4] Flowers was charged with murder in the shooting death of the owner, Bertha Tardy, and three workers on July 16, 1996, at Tardy Furniture, a Winona furniture store from which he had been recently fired"
