Fellas how much do you guys spend on rent and what neighborhood?

And do you rent your own place?

Maybe I'm just cheap but everything seems so expensive?

Get rent stabilized on a 2 year lease. Our rent stabilized large corner one bedroom in central park north is still 1500ish a month. Over the long term those savings really add up.

It was great for what it was. Had an elevator and allowed any dog you want and was a block away from Central Park. We handed it over to our best friend. They let you terminate/transfer the lease on 30 days notice too. They were zero trouble.

This poaster is referring to "Central Park North" (aka Harlem, aka the Hood).

Rent stabilized is any apartment renting for less than 2700/mo. That means their ability to increase your rent is restricted to smaller increments.

A two year lease simply locks you in at a certain rate for two years as opposed to one. Not a bad idea if you are sure about staying somewhere that long.

There's not much in the WV that's rent stabilized and available other than maybe studio apartments. A one bedroom at under 2700 I do not think you'd find anywhere in the WV.

First tell me what neighborhood will you be working in? Are you living alone? Kids?

No Kids. Live alone. I'm 40 so want a "real" apartment.

Check out Sutton Place. Studio apartments (but larger) in doorman buildings with elevator and laundry (aka, "adult"), very close proximity to Bryant Park. Rent range would be 2,300 - 2,600 for studios. Get on a two year lease.

You're going to pay to live in a cooler neighborhood but I agree Sutton and Beekman are nice places.

Murray Hill isn't all bad either. It would be credited to be able walk to Bryant Park though I wouldn't want to live in the area just around it

A larger alcove studio in a doorman building with amenities certainly qualifies as adult. And probably cost more per month to rent than most peoples' mortgages.

So paying less to live in an 1,800 sq foot shit box in Nutley is tcr on "adult" living?

A nice doorman building in a nicely furnished apartment in a quaint NYC neighborhood sounds pretty cr and adult to me.
