https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/08/the-nations-top-former-intelligence-officials-issue-a-stunning-rebuke-to-trump.html
One of two things happened on Thursday, depending on your point of view. Either some of the nation’s top retired military and intelligence officers publicly criticized President Trump in very strong terms—an uncharacteristic act for almost all of them—or the “deep state” is closing in.
The denunciations came in two waves.
Earlier in the day, retired Adm. William McRaven wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post, protesting Trump’s revoking of former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance and declaring—as if in an open letter to Trump himself—“I would consider it an honor if you would revoke my security clearance as well, so I can add my name to the list of men and women who have spoken up against your presidency.”
McRaven is a former Navy SEAL and commander of U.S. Special Operations Command who oversaw the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden. By all accounts, he is as apolitical as they come and had not publicly criticized Trump, or any previous president, until now.
The op-ed continued: “Like most Americans, I had hoped that when you became president, you would rise to the occasion and become the leader this great nation needs. … Your leadership, however, has shown little of these qualities. Through your actions”—which he later described as “McCarthy-era tactics”—“you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and worst of all, divided us as a nation.”
One former senior intelligence official who read the op-ed sent me an email: “Takes my breath away. This is BIG!!!” Another wrote, again on background, that fellow officers—retired and active-duty—will take this as a sign of a major rupture in civil-military relations, brought on by Trump’s blatant disrespect for national security officials and the entire security system.
Then, late on Thursday night, 12 former CIA directors and deputy directors released a similar statement. By coincidence, the statement was written a few hours before McRaven’s op-ed appeared, according to two of the organizers.

Never forget that Natalia Veselniskya, the Russian lawyer who met with Trumps entire high command, and was accompanied by a handful of intelligence agents, was in town to attend a hearing in a money laundering case in the SDNY against her clients, who stole at least $230 million from the Russian treasury (recent stories say $1 billion) and then killed a whistleblower (Sergei Magnitsky) who uncovered the fraud.
Never forget that Magnitskys lawyer had a “piano moving” accident and fell out of a fifth story window (video here: https://m.imgur.com/2lSLFM1?r ) when Veselnitskyas clients believed he provided evidence to US federal prosecutors.
Don Jr said he doesn’t recall whether they discussed the money laundering case with Veselnitskya . Seems likely that they did. Her clients are on sanctions lists. I’m sure she wanted to talk about that

This hapless pumo has been bleating about this nonsense for what seems like an eternity.
But despite all that bleating, it doesn't change the facts on the ground. In the 2+ years that various organizations/committees (including for the last 1+ year Mueller) have been investigating the alleged Trump/Russia collusion to steal the election from HER, they haven't proven a damn thing.
In fact, for all his meaningless indictments of 2-dozen random Russians; for all his 18 USC 1001 "false statements" pleas; for all his tax charges against Manafort--Mueller has not indicted one single person on one single charge related to colluding with the Kremlin to steal the 2016 election.
Mueller is an abject failure, and the shitlibs who are on his dick 24/7 are hilarious.

It was a bipartisan statement. Four of the signers served during Republican administrations; six served Democrats; two served presidents from both parties. More to the point, the vast majority of them are not accustomed to making political statements of any sort, much less direct criticisms of a sitting president.
The ex-officials include William Webster, Porter Goss, Gen. Michael Hayden, and John McLaughlin (those who served Republicans); Leon Panetta, Gen. David Petraeus, Gen. James Clapper, Michael Morell, Avril Haines and David Cohen (those who served Democrats); and George Tenet, and Stephen Kappes (who served presidents of both parties).
More significant, seven of the 12—Webster, Goss, Hayden, McLaughlin, Clapper, Morell, and Kappes—were career intelligence officials. One, Petraeus, was a career combat commander. [Update, Aug. 17, 2018, 12:10 a.m.: Just before midnight, a 13th ex-director, Robert Gates—another career CIA official who has served under several presidents of both parties—added his name to the statement. He had been inaccessible, until then.]
One of the signers told me that some who signed the statement did so reluctantly, given the long-standing principle that intelligence and military officers should remain apolitical. However, the consensus was that Trump’s behavior has gone beyond the pale.

Honor doesn't matter any more. As long as Joe Six Pack can keep stuffing a bag of Cheetoh's down his gullet as he claps like a seal over Trump's amusing actions of the day, the statements and actions of the small minority of honorable men like these will have no effect.
Idiocracy, here we come.

Guys at my HS voted for commies all the time back during the cold war, it was NBD.
Oh, and there's plenty more--like the Senate Intel spying, lying to Congress, etc.
Maybe Brennan and Mueller can share a cell in Leavenworth after the 2020 election.

-unconstitutional surveillance?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/world/national-security/donald-trump-pursues-vladimir-putin-russian-election-hacking/?utm_term=.907bb6208841
Trump at times seemed not to understand how his actions and behavior intensified congressional concern. After he emerged from a meeting in Hamburg with Putin, Trump said he and the Russian leader had agreed upon the outlines of a cooperative cybersecurity plan.
Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) described the proposed pact as “pretty close” to “the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard” and introduced additional provisions to the sanctions bill that would strip Trump of much of his power to undo them — a remarkable slap at presidential prerogative.
Then, in late July, new information surfaced about the extent of Trump’s interactions with Putin in Hamburg that sent another wave of anxiety across Capitol Hill.
At the end of a lavish banquet for world leaders, Trump wandered away from his assigned seat for a private conversation with the Russian leader — without a single U.S. witness, only a Kremlin interpreter.
A Trump administration official described the reaction to the encounter as overblown, saying that Trump had merely left his seat to join the first lady, Melania Trump, who had been seated for the dinner next to Putin. Whatever the reason, little over a week later both chambers of Congress passed the sanctions measure with overwhelming margins that would withstand any Trump veto.
Trump’s frustration had been building as the measure approached a final vote. He saw the bill as validation of the case that Russia had interfered, as an encroachment on his executive authority and as a potentially fatal blow to his aspirations for friendship with Putin, according to his advisers.
In the final days before passage, Trump watched MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program and stewed as hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski declared that the bill would be a slap in the face to the president.
“He was raging,” one adviser said. “He was raging mad.”
After final passage, Trump was “apoplectic,” the adviser recalled. It took four days for aides to persuade him to sign the bill, arguing that if he vetoed it and Congress overturned that veto, his standing would be permanently weakened.
“Hey, here are the votes,” aides told the president, according to a second Trump adviser. “If you veto it, they’ll override you and then you’re f---ed and you look like you’re weak.”
Trump signed but made his displeasure known. His signing statement asserted that the measure included “clearly unconstitutional provisions.” Trump had routinely made a show of bill signings, but in this case no media was allowed to attend.
The reaction from Russia was withering. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev taunted the president in a Facebook post that echoed Trump’s style, saying that the president had shown “complete impotence, in the most humiliating manner, transferring executive power to Congress.”

Reminder that the Clapper/Brennan boot-lickers in this thread have no problem with the federal government bulk collecting our phone and Internet information without a warrant, and then lying to congress about it, under oath.
And if you don't join them in kneeling before the traitors who did this to America, these boot-licker pumos call you unpatriotic, or Russian, etc.
The facts are simple. They have no scruples, and are perfectly okay with the government violating our constitutional rights as long as the assholes who did so say mean things about evil racist Drumpf.
There's a reason these clowns have no credibility.
