Is there an online company that’s good or should I go into a B&M retailer? Seems like all the online reviews are paid for.

Mattresses are probably the LEAST transparent consumer good purchase you will ever make so you shouldn't go in expecting to "get what you pay for."

Test one of the bed in a box kinds (memory foam & latex) before you buy it. They are all hot, soft (even the "firm" ones), and don't bounce during sex.

The mainstream ones in mattress stores (which is what you'll be getting for $2k) are synthetic shit soaked in formaldehyde and all other sorts of stuff you probably shouldn't be breathing in and absorbing for 8 hours/day.

The cr options are going with a fancy, organic, etc. traditional innerspring mattress or, if you can accept the downsides, some bed in a box (Casper, T&N, Bedinabox, etc.).

Yes, the thing nobody bothers to mention is that a cheap, hard innerspring mattress is by far the best for fucking. I keep one in my extra bedroom for exactly that purpose.

Just do Casper/leesa/tuft and needle/purple and pay way less than your budget

I have one from one of those companies and it's great

Not only are cheap spring mattresses the most fun to jump on, but also they don't keep you too hot. Latex is nice but not necessarily better than a cheap spring mattress. Memory foams etc are terrible. In general too much padding keeps you too hot.
