The bosses literally drew lines and said NO BLACKS get loans for this area, so unless they had cash they didn't get a loan no matter how much better their financials were than whites.
Do you think the average 1960s black father of two was the same as the average 2018 black father of two who regularly hires Spaceporn? |

How many years has that argument about talented, hard-working blacks being trapped in these communities been part of the national discourse? 35 or so years? Any measure of elite status (college admissions, number of MD/JDs, corporate board seats) over that period will show an increase in black people. There are tons of charter schools now, even in shit neighborhoods - any talented black kid will end up in one of those. I think upward social mobility among blacks has accelerated since the 90s but has basically peaked. I don't think there are many more hidden black Einsteins who aren't already running the table at ivy admissions. |
