going to 6 countries total on a trip. buying sim cards in each country at the airport is a little bit of a hassle.

tmobile has free intl 2D data in pretty much every country.

is it worth signing up for tmobile just for a month and then cancelling it?

Or just keep the plan

But honestly, roaming speeds always suck and if they are choking you off at 2G, you’ll be happy you spent 10 minutes getting a SIM card at the airport

use an old phone or get a cheap 2nd phone for your travel SIMs so you still get messages or texts on your normal phone

10 mins getting a sim at the airport plus making sure ur not getting ripped off and checking 3-4 booths for prices = 30 mins.

i dont travel nearly enough to pay monthly for t-mobile in addition to my at&t. t-mobile sucks in the USA

2G is fine. just want to be able to what'sapp with drivers/guides, and poast on xo while pddj is in the bathroom. hotels all have wifi.

in foreign countries, i still get my imessages when i've got a foreign sim in my phone. i guess it's linked to my email/icloud account. but i guess green texting people cant text me?

If that’s all you want it for then yeah this is a good option

I have SIMs for a handful of places where I go regularly and where the credits don’t get swallowed up after like 28 days, and do data roaming for the rest. If someone wants to talk to me, I call their number via my skype account on wifi.

i have to sign up for t-mobile and get a sim and then cancel. i dunno if that's a hassle.

what's the best way to call usa numbers over wifi? google voice used to let you do so, but they charge now. skype charges too.

I'm never even come close to using up the 2G. WiFi when you can.

Get a used iPhone 6s or 7 and you will have all the bands you need for t-mobile. Whatever you pay for the phone you will make back with cheaper monthly bills plus intl coverage.
