problem with ubers is that so many of them drive from outside the city and work for like 48 hours straight (since they can make more in NYC). you end up with retarded zombies who don't understand traffic in manhattan at all. at least cabbies drive around new york every day.

Edit: yellow taxis are horrible. The drivers are generally rude, they smell or cars smell, they have no real incentive to do a great job other than possibly getting a tip, they don't use GPS and it's more expensive than uber. Just sitting in a taxi costs you money whereas for uber this isn't the case.

Uber drivers keep their cars nicer (at least in MFH) and MFH also has Juno, Lyft, Via and lots of other services and they undercut each other or throw out discounts or upgrades all the time which keeps costs down. Drivers have reviews and ratings and have to keep a minimum score and so are much more incentivized to do a good job.

Using a yellow taxi after uber feels like going from a bespoke, top-tier escort to some dirty street walking whore in Hunts Point.
