Susman Godfrey/Boies Schiller/Bartlitt Beck/Kellogg Hansen/Kobre & Kim/Keker & Van Nest are all prime examples, and Susman, Boies, and Bartlitt all claim to give associates a ton of early responsibility and fast track them to partner with a real up or out model.
All of the above will handle pretty much any type of litigation, and some of them (particularly Susman) do a lot of all-or-nothing contingency work. |

A few observations: Juniors get substantive work (depos/hearings/putting on a witness at trial) earlier than biglaw. They bill a shit ton of hours and a lot of them burn out fairly quickly, but then land on their feet somewhere else, or break off with colleagues to form a smaller boutique.
