with the 3-5 year opportunity cost of law school + clerkship the only way to close the gap long term would be to make partner in biglaw which is next to impossible
you can be a mid level engineer at google (like 2 promotions in) making like 300K and never be forced out, it's not like law or banking where you need to make partner/MD
and the tech hours and fringe benefits are unbeatable
