Tech is cyclical, meaning there's a bust coming, and connections-based. If you don't have the contacts to become a founder or get one of those $300k machine learning positions, you're going to be a loser engineer doing Scrum.

There are a lot of 140+ IQ people who go into tech expecting to clean up, but who get the "regular" treatment and end up miserable at 35, with no connections and no career due to the ageism of the industry.

with the 3-5 year opportunity cost of law school + clerkship the only way to close the gap long term would be to make partner in biglaw which is next to impossible

you can be a mid level engineer at google (like 2 promotions in) making like 300K and never be forced out, it's not like law or banking where you need to make partner/MD

and the tech hours and fringe benefits are unbeatable

I'd get it if you you're going for lifestyle and enjoyment of work, a lot of people do 5-year PhDs after their undergrad just to get a $100K CS assistant professorship (making half what a BS in CS can make at top firms)

but for law?

tech interviews can be prepped for just like the LSAT

if you have a GPA in good enough shape for HYSCCN you're halfway there in terms of knowledge
