Quit drinking too late. Now I have chronic pancreatitis. FML. (Turd Sandwich)

Date: November 16th, 2018 9:27 AM Author: Supple kitchen Quit drinking a little over a month ago after a bad case of acute pancreatitis (my 3rd episode). The last one was severe and my Lipase (pancreas enzyme) level did not go down right away so I had to be in the hospital for a few days.
Finally that was a wake up call. Everything has been good since then until yesterday when my stomach started hurting and diarrhea started up. Went to the doc, he tested, and my Lipase level is high again (310). He thinks it's the early stage of chronic pancreatitis, which is irreversible and progressive.
I'm such a degenerate piece of shit. |

Date: November 17th, 2018 4:32 PM Author: Supple kitchen if you're not having a really bad stomach pain and/or lots of nausea it's not an acute pancreatitis attack so your Lipase level and Amylase will likely be fine. If you have a lot of stomach pain one day and you've been drinking a lot go in and have your Lipase checked. Simple blood test with quick results.
They could do a stool sample to check how well your pancreas is functioning. That's a decent indicator of chronic pancreatitis.
Things like MRIs and CT scans are shitty at detecting chronic pancreatitis in its early stages because the pancreas still looks normal at that point (even though it's on an irreversible and progressive course). My CT scan shows a 100% normal pancreas. |

I do not have any physical impacts other than hang overs but I drink a shit ton and I know this will catch up to me. Actually, I have felt a pain on towards on my side towards back along waistline. that was a while back. blood tests for this or what?
I'm honest with my dr. and he obviously says don't drinks as much or at all but hes like you don't seem like you want to quite so not sure where this is going. |

You burp and fart a lot and it doesn't even kill you that fast. And you can't even drink anymore just so you can hopefully stay alive a few more years. BTW, you can't get life insurance anymore, so your family is fucked too.
I just keep drinking and hopefully I'll die sooner and glad I locked in the life insurance. |

they want to repeat the stool test in a couple months to see if the pancreas continues to head down hill.
in the meantime, my stomach hurts roughly 50% of the time, especially if I eat anything that has fat in it.
