Like in EU4 you can be completely swallowed up in a decade or lose early wars as the Ottomans if you don't know what you're doing. In CK2 if you're playing a count or a ducal dynasty in the HRE or whatever you can have a lengthy/fun game with a ton of random events etc. happening. You may not claw your way to Emperor or be chosen as the King of Jerusalem, but you can have a good game.
There's a "losing is fun" element to it. If you lose a rebellion in the Byzantine Empire and the Emperor blinds you and steals your ducal title (leaving you an impoverished blinded count) it's still fun. |
