We never deal with international clients so we both googled etiquette and saw the business card thing was this elaborate ritual. There were four of them and two of us. We go in and start bowing like crazy and they want to shake hands and then we took out our cards with both hands and kept holding them out and bowing. They took our cards and we took theirs with both hands and they were peering at ours really closely, holding them right up to their faces and oohing and ahhing. I just kept holding their cards with both hands and slowly rotating among the four cards and bowing and smiling and nodding excitedly. My old balls colleague was carrying on a dialogue with himself while studying the cards, like "oh yeah, huh, would you look at that, oh very nice yeah lookie there!"
