Majorly damaged nice rental car. Taking advice.

I got CDW as an extra so damage covered up to $3k. Also used my Chase freedom card maybe they offer some protection as well.

Sure enough, going around a sharp curve in some foothills, I ended up in the ditch with a sapling embedded in the front bumper. Dropped the keys off and walked away. The desk staff were pretty bummed but I don't really know what they were expecting. |

These bastards will claim it is an absurdly high amount to fix, when in reality they have a bulk deal with some local body shop to repair for pennies on the dollar. Just drop it off at the airport and walk away. They will send you a demand. Dispute it. Depending on their response, You can decide whether the shaggy defense is better or the ill ageee to pay this amount but Fuck your $5,000 defense is better.
Also, generically alert your insurance company once you receive the rental demand, but don’t go into specifics. Say the rental company is claiming this, but I’m not sure what the fuck happened.

They don't charge a bunch extra like for a BMW (which inevitably comes with a small engine that wouldn't be faster than the Mustang anyway) but it is still fun to drive. Last time I went to California I got a Mustang convertible and had a great time. You just have to not drive like an idiot. |
