Fantastic views and only about 10 minutes to the top. Could also walk around Town lake which is right by the mountain. There is a bar at the Arts Center on the lake if you need a pit stop.
The cross cut canal path is one of the best urban paths in the country. Goes through papago park which is where the zoo and botanical gardens are. That is just north of downtown Tempe on Mill Ave. Look it up.
Before the monsoon comes the weather is actually not bad at sunset and the evening. I still wouldn't recommend any serious mountain hikes though unless you are going at sunrise. That's a shame because we have some of the best city and close by (Superstition mountains) hiking in the country. |

I could see the city being nice to live in but visiting, at least in the summer, was not exactly the best. Lots of Ubers etc. Bars were cookie cutter. No fucking clue where all the people live making it the 5th largest metro. |
